Art Nouveau ceramic hand-painted figural amphora vase made by Royal Dux circa 1910-1920s. The spherical body that is decorated with organic lines, blossoms and leaves, stands on six feet. A female figure is climbing onto the amphora and reaching to the water fountain to collect water with a cup. The neck and the lip are decorated also with organic flowers and lines which meet and make up the lip. Two stylised leaves on each side whose stems are embellished with a gold hand-applied coating make up symbolic handles of the amphora. The inside of the vase is glazed. Pay attention to the delightful face expression that the nymph is making when looking up to the water fountain.
This amphora is in excellent condition; there is a tiny chip on one of the feet - zoom in the first photograph, it is the one closest to the nymph's left foot.
Dimensions: H43 x L17 cm (H16,9 x L6,7 inches) ("L" being the diameter of the base; the length is greater thanks to the figure).
