
Highly stylised ceramic statue of a nude female figure covering her shoulders with a hall scarf and a doe looking up to her; both are captured in motion. The statue bears the artist's impressed signature together with the year of creation on the edge of the base on the back of the statue "Rudolf Hlavica 1941" - see detailed photo #14.
This statue is in excellent condition.

About the artist: Rudolf Hlavica (1897 - 1971) was a Czech sculptor and carver. He learnt his craft at his father's workshop. After being imprisoned in Soci Russia, he returned to his homeland and established a company "Bratři Hlavicové - výroba dřevěných hraček" (manufacture of wooden toys) with his brother Emil in Vsetín. In 1932 he finished his university studies at the University of Applied Arts and worked as a high-school professor in Košice (today's Slovakia).
Most of his popular artworks are made of ceramic or metal.
