About the artist:
Maurice Guiraud-Rivière was a French sculptor living (1881-1947) and was the leading artist of the Art Deco movement. His works are primarily executed in bronze (side note: the Parisian foundry Etling was casting his works for over 30 years), which makes this ceramic statue a unique piece. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists 1907, Salon des Beaux-Arts 1911, International Exhibition in Paris 1937.
