This hexagon-shaped incense box with a lid houses seven small kogo boxes from the same period - the Edo period - the 19th century. Each small container has a different lid decoration. The lid of the large box is adorned with a fine bronze embellishment in low relief, which makes this type of box very rare and unusual.
The six-sided box rests upon a three-legged stand and is in overall unblemished condition. There is a small chip around the figure's head - see the photographs for more details.
